What is the purpose of AIM's Athletic Program?
AIM Athletics Statement
At the Academy In Manayunk, athletics are offered for students in grades 6 to 12. Athletics are a key component in the overall development of AIM students. We offer a variety of team sports such as soccer, basketball, and softball. We are excited to announce the unveiling of our first ever crew and golf teams in spring 2010. Though we stress the benefit of athletics to our students, these activities are voluntary. The purpose of AIM's athletic program is to encourage students to be active and have fun.
Mission
At the Academy In Manayunk, athletics is an integral part of a student's overall development that complements other areas of school achievement. Students gain self confidence and discipline which in turn will improve their emotional and social development. "We coach the way we teach"; we take every student and make sure they have a place within our athletic program.
The Athletic Philosophy
At the Academy In Manayunk, athletics promote the active lifestyle that all students need to exhibit everyday. At AIM, we encourage a safe environment to allow students to explore athletic endeavors while learning key life lessons. Among the values within athletics that help AIM students become responsible are teamwork, commitment, leadership, character, and healthy competition. Our goal is for our student-athletes to always have a feeling of accomplishment while building school spirit and a constant sense of community within the AIM family. Additionally, student –athletes at AIM will know how to deal with conflict resolution, overcoming fears, and learn to appreciate the benefits of both winning and losing.
